  • Myelodysplasia

Cellular transplants can also help children with storage diseases that prevent their cells from processing nutrients in foods and beverages.

We offer families facing these serious conditions the unmatched resources of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center/Holtz Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Program – the only such academic-based program in the region.

That means patients can receive the latest medical treatments, including access to a wide range of clinical trials.

Our integrated program combines two state-of-the-art facilities: Alex’s Place, a child-friendly pediatric hematology/oncology outpatient clinic at Sylvester’s Miami location, and a seven-bed, self-contained blood and marrow transplant unit at Holtz Children’s Hospital. This provides a warm and supportive setting for young patients and their families before, during and after stem cell infusion and transplant care.

In addition, The Holtz Children’s Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, in affiliation with the University of Miami Health System, is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). It is the only continuously FACT-accredited pediatric stem cell transplant program in South Florida.
