Pediatric Neurology

Specialized pediatric neurology care for the full range of conditions.

Neurological disorders affect the brain, spinal cord, and nerves that connect them. Some of these conditions are present at birth and may require lifelong care. Because diagnosis and treatment can be complex, it’s important to have a team you can trust.

At UHealth Jackson Children’s Care, our multidisciplinary team includes board-certified pediatric neurologists, neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, specialized nurses, physical and occupational therapists, counselors, and social workers who work together to provide personalized care for children of all ages while supporting families with the resources they need to manage their child’s health and well-being.

Expert care, close to home

Our pediatric neurologists care for children across Miami-Dade County and South Florida, including at Holtz Children’s Hospital — one of the largest children’s hospitals in the Southeast. Here, your child has access to:

  • A video EEG telemetry unit for advanced seizure monitoring

Conditions we treat

Families turn to our pediatric neurologists for many reasons, including frequent headaches, muscle spasms, seizures, and concerns after a traumatic brain injury. Working closely with our pediatric neuro-specialists including neurosurgeons, we determine the most effective course of treatment for each child.

We also offer advanced diagnostics and therapies, such as our Video EEG Telemetry Unit, staffed by specially trained electroencephalography technicians and nurses, and a five-bed unit dedicated to inpatient epilepsy monitoring.

Some of the conditions we treat include:

  • Brain tumors
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Epilepsy
  • Frequent headaches and migraines
  • Learning disorders
  • Movement disorders
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Muscular dystrophy
  • Neurometabolic disorders
  • Sleep disorders
  • Spina bifida
  • Traumatic brain injuries

Advancing care through research and education

Our physicians are actively involved in research to better understand and treat neurological conditions — from neuro-genetic disorders to pediatric headache treatments. We are also dedicated to training the next generation of medical students, residents, and fellows in pediatric neurology.

When your child needs neurological care, we are here with the expertise, compassion, and resources to help your family every step of the way.
