Pediatric Echocardiography and Advanced Heart Imaging
Echocardiography, a non-invasive procedure that uses sound waves to provide unparalleled images of heart function, plays a vital role in the care of patients at the Congenital Heart Center.
The UHealth Jackson Children’s Care Congenital Heart Center offers it all, up to and including high-resolution MRIs and 3D images. But it all begins with echocardiography, a non-invasive procedure that uses sound waves to examine heart function. These sound wave videos allow cardiologists to see heart abnormalities, such as:
- Atrial or ventricular septal defect “holes in the heart”
- Blocked heart valves
- Heart function or structural abnormalities
Imaging Specialists
Our imaging specialists are among the most experienced in South Florida and perform thousands of echocardiograms each year. In addition, our echocardiologists are able to perform all types of echocardiography, including:
- Cutting-edge 3D studies of the heart
- Stress echocardiograms
- Fetal echocardiograms
- Transesophageal studies
- Intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) studies
- Advanced cardiac imaging, including cardiac CT and cardiac MRI
- Fetal MRI
IAC-Accredited
Demonstrating our commitment to quality and a higher level of patient care, our IAC-Accredited echocardiography laboratory maintains accreditation by The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).
Here, you will even find the Nuance system, which allows our specialists to review images and collaborate with other cardiologists around the world. In short, this imaging lab features the highest tech in the friendliest clinical environments. Rooms are designed to put children and families at ease with TVs, entertainment, and privacy.
Expertise is also available for advanced cardiac MRI and CT imaging when additional information is needed for optimal care.
