Mailman Center for Child Development

The Mailman Center for Child Development is a prominent academic center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine dedicated to addressing the concerns of individuals with developmental disabilities and children with special health care needs. This is accomplished through:

  • Research initiatives to further understand and improve the lives of children with developmental disabilities and special health care needs.
  • Specialized clinical services to meet the unique needs of the community we serve.
  • Training for healthcare professionals that equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively support children and their family.
  • Parental workshops designed to empower parents and caregivers with the tools and information needed to navigate the challenges associated with raising children with special needs.
  • Advocacy for the rights and well-being of children with developmental disabilities and special health care needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate support and resources.

Recognized as one of the top ten programs in the United States for children with neuro diverse and chronic conditions, the Mailman Center for Child Development is housed in a nine-story building encompassing nearly 115,000 square feet. The facility includes dedicated spaces for offices, clinics, training, conferences, and laboratories. Located on the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center campus, the Mailman Center serves a substantial number of children, adolescents, and their families, exceeding 19,000 annually.

The team at the Mailman Center prioritizes identifying and understanding the concerns and needs of each individual. Through close collaboration between families and the professional staff, the most suitable and beneficial services are determined to meet the diverse needs of all our patients.

The same doctors who provide bedside care at Holtz Children’s Hospital are also driving innovation and training the pediatricians and specialists of tomorrow.
